On Reserve
A non-profit serving the Charlottesville area
The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention
~Oscar Wilde
On Reserve is a non-profit program, partnering with local restaurants and grocery outlets to offer high quality meals to those in need in the Greater Charlottesville – Albemarle Community. The program was founded at the University of Virginia (UVA) and operates on a pay-it-forward principle, relying on community goodwill to provide donations and meal purchases.
“A patron, you and me, could go in and purchase dinner or lunch for ourselves and we could also buy an on-reserve meal for someone else who could redeem that at a later time,” said Cliff Maxwell, a professor at the University of Virginia.
